Home / Index / Apostasy
  • Definition: Apostasy is the deliberate abandonment of the Christian faith, a renunciation of the truth of salvation in Christ after having confessed it.
  • 2 Thessalonians 2:3: « Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. »
  • Hebrews 6:4-6: « It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit… and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. »
  • Explanation: Apostasy is viewed with great seriousness in biblical theology. It is considered a willful rejection of the faith, with severe spiritual consequences, including the possibility of not being able to be restored to repentance.
