Definition: The Kingdom of God is God’s sovereign rule over the universe, particularly in the hearts of believers. It is already present spiritually but will be fully manifested at the end of time.
Matthew 6:33: « But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. »
Luke 17:20-21: « The coming of the kingdom of God is not something that can be observed, nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is in your midst. »
Explanation: In biblical theology, the Kingdom of God is both « already » and « not yet. » It is already at work through the Church and the work of the Holy Spirit, but it will reach its full realization at Christ’s return.
