Adoption

Home / Index / Adoption
  • Definition: Adoption is the act by which God brings believers into His family, granting them all the rights and privileges of being children of God.
  • Romans 8:15: « The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, ‘Abba, Father.' »
  • Galatians 4:4-5: « But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son… to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. »
  • Explanation: Adoption in biblical theology emphasizes God’s grace in making believers His children. This involves not only a new status before God but also an intimate relationship with Him, like that of a father with his children.
