  • Definition: Redemption refers to the act of buying back humanity from sin and death through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Christ paid the necessary price to free believers from the bondage of sin.
  • Ephesians 1:7: « In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace. »
  • 1 Peter 1:18-19: « For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed… but with the precious blood of Christ. »
  • Explanation: Redemption is at the heart of the biblical message. It involves deliverance from spiritual slavery, made possible by Christ’s sacrifice, which paid the debt of our sin. This opens the way to reconciliation with God.
